About us

As a privately owned software development company, we are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer (m/f/x) who will use innovative ideas to design the system environment for our development team. You can work 100% remote or hybrid at our locations in Berlin Grunewald and Barsbüttel near Hamburg.

Since our founding in 1997 as a spin-off of the Fraunhofer Institute, we have been developing software solutions for the congress industry and have been part of the CPO HANSER Group with headquarters in Barsbüttel near Hamburg and Berlin since 2008. Our customers are medical professional societies that convey the latest knowledge from science and research at their congresses and inspire thousands of participants annually.

The GLOBIT knowledge platform provides digital solutions for knowledge transfer at congresses worldwide. Starting with websites, mobile event apps, and e-learning services, to member and customer management systems, live streaming services, and multimedia services, we take care of the complete technical implementation.

About the job

As a DevOps Engineer, you have the opportunity to establish an effective DevOps culture as an independent engineer and bring your innovative ideas to shape the system environment for our developers. In collaboration with our internal backend team, external frontend team, and CTO, you ensure that our IT infrastructure runs stably and securely and is scalable. Your job is to monitor our systems and applications, automate deployment processes, implement security measures, and optimization solutions.

Tech Stack

  • Linux (Ubuntu/Debian) and NGINX Server
  • Docker/docker-compose, Kubernetes, LXC for containerization
  • PROXMOX for provisioning
  • Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Travis or Bitbucket for CI/CD pipeline
  • Nagios/Icinga or Zabbix for monitoring
  • Terraform for Infrastructure as code
  • Wireguard for VPN
  • Scrum and Kanban in project management

Your tasks at GLOBIT

  • Management of test and production servers
  • Introduction of virtualization solutions
  • Performance optimization of the infrastructure
  • Monitoring of the infrastructure at congress events
  • Implementation of a successful CI/CD process
  • Automation of build, test, and deployment processes
  • Management of system access and permissions

What we are looking for

  • Solid knowledge and experience in administering Linux servers and NGINX.
  • Solid knowledge in Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Travis, or Bitbucket
  • Solid knowledge and experience in securing and monitoring systems
  • Basic knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, or Proxmox, or similar provisioning systems

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and experience with Terraform
